What is the process of semen freezing?

  • Semen Freezing: A Vital Step in Future Family Planning at Kulki IVF

  • Semen freezing stands as one of the most effective methods for preserving a man’s fertility, allowing the possibility of conception at a later date. At Kulki IVF, the process begins with meticulous verification by our skilled embryologists, ensuring the sample's accuracy and assessing its volume, concentration, motility, and progression.

  • Once verified, the sample is carefully mixed with a specialized sperm cryopreservation media and distributed into pre-labeled cryopreservation vials, including a test thaw vial for quality assurance. Following rigorous testing, the vials are placed into liquid nitrogen vapor and then stored in liquid nitrogen, where they can remain viable for many years.

  • This precise and thorough sperm freezing process at Kulki IVF offers individuals the reassurance and opportunity to preserve their fertility and pursue parenthood when the time is right.

What would be the treatment of semen freezing for IVF?

  • At Kulki IVF, Sperm Freezing Offers Hope for Various Life Circumstances

  • Sperm freezing is a valuable option for couples facing challenges such as cancer, demanding careers, or long separations from their partners. For those experiencing fertility issues, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) stands as a beacon of hope, facilitating the journey to parenthood with greater ease.

  • Recent research published in PLOS ONE highlights the efficacy of frozen sperm retrieved via testicular biopsy, showing comparable pregnancy outcomes to those achieved with fresh sperm. In the process of semen freezing for IVF at Kulki IVF, precision is paramount.

  • Initially, an egg is extracted from the woman's ovary and fertilized with the man's sperm. The resulting embryo is then carefully transferred to the woman's uterus to facilitate growth and development.

  • In cases where the man has a low sperm count or lacks sperm in his semen entirely, a biopsy may be necessary to retrieve viable sperm directly from the testicle. These sperm can then be utilized immediately for pregnancy or stored for future use, providing individuals and couples with options and peace of mind on their journey to parenthood.

Is sperm freezing worth it?

  • At Kulki IVF, Sperm Freezing: A Trusted Solution for Fertility Preservation

  • Sperm freezing has been a reliable method since 1953 for individuals seeking to safeguard their fertility. Yet, many wonder about its efficacy and worthiness.

  • While it's true that not all sperm survive the freezing process— with a survival rate typically under 50%— when the sample is of high quality, successful conception leading to a healthy baby is highly likely. Surveys have demonstrated that frozen sperm retains its fertilization capacity at levels comparable to fresh sperm, reassuring individuals considering this option.

  • At Kulki IVF, we have compelling evidence to support the notion that frozen sperm poses no increased risk of health issues for babies, as it maintains the same efficacy as fresh sperm. Thus, individuals can trust in the effectiveness and safety of sperm freezing as they navigate their fertility journey with us.

Is sperm freezing worth it?

  • Semen freezing has evolved into a routine practice at Kulki IVF, ensuring the viability and usability of sperm post-preservation. Below, we outline the protocol for sperm freezing:

  • Initially, sperm collection occurs through masturbation, following a recommended abstinence period of three days.

  • Upon collection, the ejaculate's volume is measured after allowing it to liquefy at a temperature of 37℃ for 30 minutes.

  • Subsequently, a 5 ml vial of the previously aliquoted freezing medium—TYB—is thawed and brought to room temperature (37℃).

  • The sample is then transferred to a sterile 15 ml conical tube, where the TYB freezing medium is added drop-wise to achieve a 1:1 semen-to-medium ratio. Careful mixing ensues to prevent bubble formation.

  • The mixture is allowed to equilibrate for approximately 10 minutes at room temperature.

  • Finally, the prepared mixture is transferred into a patient-labeled storage vessel according to the manufacturer's filling protocol. The freezing process commences upon sealing the device, ensuring optimal preservation of the sperm sample.
